• The RAH team provided live demonstrations and audio-visual aids used in the local language to enhance understanding.
• Participants were engaged in interactive discussions and Q&A sessions to clarify doubts and misconceptions.
Palliative Care Support:
The first camp also served as a follow-up and support initiative for a patient from the same village who has been under the care of the RAH palliative care team. This patient’s case helped to contextualize the importance of early detection and comprehensive care, and the family shared their positive experience with RAH, reinforcing the value of palliative services.
Comparing to the second camp which defines more on interaction as it had mostly the patients.
The third one was organised at the OPD set up within the patients and family members
Community Impact:
• The camp received positive feedback from attendees who expressed a greater sense of awareness and readiness to take preventive steps.
• Male participants acknowledged their role in supporting female family members in seeking timely medical attention.
• Local leaders and volunteers appreciated RAH’s effort in bringing health education to remote areas.
Conclusion:
All the 3 awareness camps in different locations is a testament to Ruma Abedona Hospice’s commitment to holistic palliative care and community health education. Such initiatives not only address medical needs but also foster awareness, reduce stigma, and promote proactive health behaviour .
